• This Week In Sports- October 27, 2025

Another rousing week in sports to dive into, lucky us! The NBA begins its young season with a bang!… and also a federal arrest involving illegal gambling rings. The NFL continues to deliver that good content we thrive on (thanks Jonathan Taylor!) And the MLB keeps on defying all predictions in the post-season. Let’s jump in!

    NBA

What I really wanted to write about was how much of dominant force Victor Wembanyama is. He’s averaging 33.3 points a game and shooting 56.9% field goals. And he shows up on both sides of the ball. I mean just look at this highlight

The Spurs have a hot 3-0 start and host Toronto on Monday and Miami on Thursday at home.

That is what I wanted to write about, but every once in a while the basketball gods give you something juicy, there’s no real choice. This week the Portland Trailblazers found themselves in a hot water, and this time it had nothing to do with atrocious defensive play. Head coach Chauncey Billups was arrested in a wild federal gambling sting involving underground poker games, rigged tables, and more cheating gadgets than a Bond villain. The NBA suspended him instantly, leaving assistant Tiago Splitter to pick up the pieces. Billups says he’s innocent, but let’s just say his next shuffle might be through a deck of legal briefs.

The Trailblazers host game night featuring Blackjack, Roullet, and Texas Hold em’ this week.

    MLB

Alright nothing quite as exciting as a federal gambling sting here but something fishy might be going on because MY GOD these games are lopsided. Thing is, teams are taking turns who they are lopsided for. Toronto takes the first game 11-4 and then gets absolutely gutted by a single pitcher, losing the second game 1-5 with LA pitch Yoshinobu Yamamoto throwing a complete game (the second time he has done so this playoffs). Check some of the highlights here

My hot take: Bluejays take it in 6. (Please Toronto you left me heartbroken with Seattle)

The Toronto Bluejays take on The Los Angeles Yamamotos in Los Angelese for games 3, 4, and 5 this week.

    NFL

This continues to be one of the most interesting seasons in the NFL. It looks to me like the team to beat right now is… The Colts?? How the heck did that happen?? I know how, it’s Jonathan Taylor putting up imaginary numbers with an average of 5.9 yards per carry for the season. If you had the foresight to pick him up for your fantasy team- first, congratulations on going unbeaten so far, and second, I am so insanely jealous of you right now. Here’s a highlight while I seethe

Wrong Highlight? Oh well, that somehow makes me feel better any way.

Also, is it just me, or has there been a crazy number of visibly bad injuries this year? First, I saw Tyreek Hill’s knee and this weekend I saw Skattebo’s ankle. Hoping for speedy recoveries for both of them. Don’t worry, no video will be provided by that. Here enjoy this instead:

    Around The World

MLS- The MLS cup started this week with a Home-Away-Home best of 3 format. We’ve already seen a thrilling shootout determined game between Philadelphia and Chicago, going The Union’s way in the end. Inter Miami also took their first game against Nashville 3-1 with 2 goals coming from Messi.

Gymnastics- Donnell Whittenburg made history by winning the gold medal on the still rings at the 2025 FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in Jakarta. He scored 14.700, becoming the first American man ever to win a world title on that apparatus. At 31 years old, he also became the oldest U.S. male gymnast to capture a world championship title. Don keep setting those records!!

EPL- I know it’s two weeks in a row talking about the Arsenal, but this game is worth mentioning. Arsenal won the game against Crystal Palace 1-0 with the sole goal coming from Palace’s former player Eberechi Eze (his first of the campaign). That’s a gut check for the Eagle’s fan. At least his celebration was classy:

    What I’m Watching This Week

Fall Classic- It’s that special time of the year! Pumpkin lattes, crisp cool air, and the World Series Babbbyyyyy. Will definitely be tuning in this week.

Fall Classic (MLS version)- It’s that special time of the year! Pumpkin lattes, crisp cool air, and the MLS Cup Babbbyyyyy. Will definitely be tuning in this week.

College Football- Vanderbilt takes on Texas this week and- no, there is no glitch in the Matrix- Vanderbilt is the favorite. Oh my what a time we live in. The Commodores take on the Longhorns this Saturday.

Well that’s all I got for this week! Maybe the NHL will give me something worth talking about next week… new gambling ring scandal?? We shall see! See you then!

  • This Week In Sports- October 20, 2025

Oh boy it has been a rousing week in sports! The MLB has given us one of the tightest championship series we have ever seen and the Milwaukee Brewers on the other. NHL continues its young season. The Giants seem to be breaking records with how they find ways to lose. Redbull continues their recent dominance in F1- but it might be too little too late for Max? We’ve got all the info you seek about the last week in sports below!

    MLB

The enthralling post-season continues, and we may have seen possibly the single greatest individual performance of all time. Shohei Ohtani puts up imaginary numbers on both sides of the ball with 10 strikeouts and 3 homeruns.

LA takes the NLCS in 4-0 sweep over Milwaukee.

On the other side, the American League has given us one of the best battles in modern baseball history. Everything comes down to Monday night’s game, with Seattle trying to overcome their unwanted title of “only team to never have been to a World Series”. Meanwhile, Toronto looks like they are on a mission. Thank god for this one Canadian team, otherwise I don’t think you’d be allowed to call it a “World” Series any more. Personally, I’m going for Seattle, I just like that their best player is named “Big Dumper”. Just ask the fan who caught his homer wearing a “Dump Here” t-shirt.

The ALCS deciding game takes place on Monday evening.

    NHL

It’s early in the NHL season, but it’s not too early to give drastic and ill-informed takes. For one, the Florida Panthers may have lost their magic touch. 2 Stanley Cups in a row is enough. They can let someone else enjoy success. Detroit are on fire- Red Wings, Tigers, Lions- after being dormant for what seems like decades. But everything considered- I’m calling it now- The Seattle Kraken win it all. There it is. A perfectly ill-informed and knee-jerk prediction. However, to get that far, they may have to overcome the biggest obstacle- refs who don’t know what there saying- like with this blunder during the Devils v Panthers game.

Let’s give them a break. They didn’t become refs because they love public speaking.

    NFL

This is turning out to be one of the most exciting seasons yet with it seems like every single division keen on cannibalizing themselves. But one thing remains true- the Giants unbelievable ability to capture defeat from the jaws of victory. The Giants lost their game 32-33 to the Denver Broncos after leading 19-0 going in to the 4th quarter.

In other news, mediocre fantasy teams across the United States are facing harsh realities as Puka Nacua’s injury means that your middling team cant be carried anymore… or at least for a couple weeks when he comes back.

    Around the World

F1- Max Verstappen continues to climb his way up the driver’s championship poll. Even though Mclaren has locked up the Constructor’s Cup, there is a moonshot for Max to overtake Piastri and Norris for the Driver’s #1.

EPL- Arsenal continues to top the table after a close 1-0 win over Fullham.

After literally doing the impossible last season and leading Tottenham to the ever-elusive silverware, Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his managerial duty by his second club of the year as Forest fall 3-0 to Chelsea.

NBA- The league starts again on Tuesday. Here’s my prediction: Celtics take it in 4. Please don’t mark my words…

Any way here’s a highlight from *I think the NBA but Im not sure* to get us hyped up.

    What I’m Watching

Champion’s League continues this week in the bizarre format introduced last season that absolutely maximizes profit (Thanks FIFA!) Regardless, I will be checking in on the Arsenal v Athletico and Juve v Real Madrid.

Penn State Football- I am puzzled in the most hilarious way possible. Penn State lost to *checks notes* UCLA and Northwestern?? Those are the kinds of losses that get your coach fired… oh wait. Let’s see how things pan out in two weeks against #1 Ohio State.

ALCS Game 7- This one is a must watch. Do or die. Everything on line. Hope this game delivers and doesn’t end up in a big dump.
